Cockapoo puppy FAQs

Quick answers to help families decide if the Cockapoo is the right fit for their home.

What breeds do you offer?

We specialize in four hypoallergenic breeds: Cockapoos (Cocker Spaniel x Poodle, 15-20 lbs adult weight), Aussiedoodles (Australian Shepherd x Poodle, 25-40 lbs adult weight), Westipoos (West Highland White Terrier x Poodle, 15-25 lbs adult weight), and Petite Goldendoodles (Golden Retriever x Miniature Poodle, 15-25 lbs adult weight). All four breeds are known for their friendly temperaments and low-shedding coats.

Are your puppies hypoallergenic?

Yes, all our Cockapoos, Aussiedoodles, Westipoos, and Petite Goldendoodles are considered hypoallergenic breeds. They have low-shedding coats inherited from their Poodle parentage, making them excellent choices for families with allergies.

What is the difference between a Cockapoo and a Cavapoo?

Cockapoos are a cross between a Cocker Spaniel and Poodle, while Cavapoos are a cross between a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and Poodle. Cockapoos tend to be slightly larger (15-20 lbs vs 10-15 lbs), more energetic, and have longer lifespans (14-18 years vs 12-15 years). Both are excellent family dogs. We specialize in Cockapoos because of their exceptional health, trainability, and adaptability.

What is the difference between a Cockapoo and a Spoodle?

Cockapoo and Spoodle are actually the same breed - a cross between a Cocker Spaniel and a Poodle. 'Spoodle' is more commonly used in Australia, while 'Cockapoo' is the preferred term in North America and the UK. Our Cockapoos are bred with American Cocker Spaniels for their compact size and gentle temperament.

Do you breed Schnoodles or American Cocker Spaniels?

We specialize exclusively in Cockapoos, Aussiedoodles, Westipoos, and Petite Goldendoodles because these breeds offer the best combination of hypoallergenic coats, friendly temperaments, and manageable sizes for Atlantic Canadian families. While American Cocker Spaniels are one of our parent breeds, we do not sell purebred Cockers. If you're interested in Schnoodles, we recommend researching their higher grooming requirements and more active temperaments.

Are Cockapoos good for first-time dog owners?

Yes! Cockapoos are one of the best breeds for first-time dog owners. They are highly trainable, eager to please, adaptable to various living situations, and generally have calm, friendly temperaments. Their moderate exercise needs and hypoallergenic coats make them manageable for new owners. We provide lifetime support to help first-time owners succeed.
